THE FATTY
It was St. Patty's Day and I was craving some late-nite nosh. Ned and Kate, a baby boomer couple at the bar, suggested Honest John's and offered me a ride. So I agreed, resigned to munching on french fries or the like. I slid into a booth near the pool table, swaying gently to the juke box, and opened the menu. To the right of the chili-cheese-fry-and-burger standards, I stared at a full vegetarian spread.

THE FATTY
Fresh is the name of the game at Mudgie's. Homegrown and local. Not only was the Hippie Dippie sandwich outstanding, but so were its sweet sidekicks: Wild Bill's root beer and a gingerbread waffle w/ Calder's eggnog icecream. It's possible I went twice last weekend. And I might go again tomorrow.

Best tofu I've had in the city. Melt-in-your-mouth texture and delicious flavor. For pescetarians, Wasabi has an extensive sushi menu. The vegetable rolls are also good, if not pricey.
